That's the month and year I got involved in my 'raising awarness' campaign, getting the word out to everyone I thought could make a difference in this project.  But, more importantly, to try to keep the neighbors from getting poisoned from their own government, etc. 

During the Labor Day holiday of 2013, I have been involved in this chemical dump in some capacity for over three years.  During this time, I have been so proud of the fact, that if I could do my small part to help the neighbors and residents to stay safe and to get through this awful situation we all find ourselves in. 

This whole mess, started at the local Air Force base, where a fuel 'leak' was found in one of the fuel storage tanks many years ago.  And, the Air Force base and the state regulators have been fighting back and forth for many years over the situation and the risk all this has caused.  It is called a "spill" by some, and I call it a chemical dump, and from the Governor and the Mayor on down, many people are involved in the clean-up before it poisons all of us. 

Over the three years that I was involved on the chemical dump project, I collected 18 newspaper articles on the matter.  During that time, I probably spent about $300.00 on postage and copies, etc.  It was worth every penny of it, for I knew I was helping people to be aware of what was happening in the community. 

Radiation comes into the picture because of the following; Sandia National Labs is located at Kirtland AFB.  Manzano Base is a storage depot, and we're told that it contains over 3,000 nuclear bombs, which is also located on Kirtland AFB.  There is research on nuclear weapons going on all the time at Sandia.  Therefore, there has to be rules and guidelines on nuclear disposal that comes down from the EPA, etc.  All radio-active parts, liqueds are disposed of in certain ways...and if not...these illegal dumps of nuclear can contaminate the groundwater.  That is a BIG NO NO!

I suffered a stroke in May, 2012, and I knew this might affect my ability to go on with this project.  After the stroke, I spent a month in the hospital in a wheelchair; and after I was discharged, I was pushing a walker around for about five months; and then I graduated to the use of a cane to help me get around.  I was making progress in my recovery, but a year later, I didn't think I could continue with my Air Force chemical dump project, so on Labor Day week-end of 2013...and sadly, I gave it up.  I didn't think I had the gitty-up to continue as I had before the stroke. 

But, I knew I had to continue in some form, and so I decided to get all my material I had gathered over the three years, and put it all into an ebook, and continue to inform and motivate the readers for a low price on the book.  (99 cents)  Chemical dumps are dangerous and getting worse all over the country, so the reader can see what I did.  I'm old enough to remember the Love Canal (named after William Love), of the 1970's, but I wasn't too clear as to how it came about. 

The reader can just Google 'Love Canal,' and up with come tons on information on the Love Canal, that was so dangerous, that President Jimmy Carter, had to pull over 1,000 families from the Love Canal.  So, if you have trouble in your part of the country with pollution of any kind, whether it comes from an air base; an army post; a farm; a ranch; a corporation...GET INVOLVED and get started on your 'raising awareness' project and inform your neighbors to get involved, too.  Together, all of you will be ONE VOICE in protest as to what is going on...and you all can make a difference for yourselves and your kids....and, for everyone to be SAFE...  GOOD LUCK...
