When I was walking along the bank of Lake Ontario, and seeing the CN Tower leaning from high above me, leaving a shadow on the ground, I was thinking, I am an achiever, a goaltender, a dreamer if it is correct. You may say, under achieved, way to go. Yes, I have a high education in both Physics and Electrical Engineering, I made a writer and a poet writing classical fiction and short stories and poetry and prose, I need to appreciate somewhere in my life, to God and the creatures His Mighty hand creates. Dreaming about writing better and better in English is my toughest goal, and I am getting there.
Lets get back to the topic, The Protagonist Must Play. The Protagonist Must Play is my first short story collection and it contains many pieces of short stories I wrote along my writing periods. It is mainly about love, spirit and the truth. The contents are fictions and they are made, but they are mainly my lifetime stories, they have a common ground of facts in my life. If I am correct, I am in the main time, I am saying the truth with some exaggerations or dramatic effects, of course, and they are fictions. Well, I meant to say is, treat them as live figures playing when you read them. It may appear a little dreary and sorrowful in contents, these parts of my life, but they are based on the true stories, no one can change that. I made them alive. Yes, life is about suffering and struggle, and my collection is about life.
The stories here reflect hope, loose, winning, success, failure and excessively, spirits of life. By publishing these stories, I felt alive, and it may win certain goals for my life. And as a goaltender, goals are important in my life. I did not project it to win certain contest or prize, I just write and write, until they have impact on me and I could take them out and showing them to the broad audiences.
Bypass is a story about life, failure and hope, and obsession, also it contains muse in Christian spirituality that God at certain point came to save my soul from Heaven above. “Conformity” is another example of God saving my soul; I met God in Heaven and fell in Him in an immense joy after I had crash on Gods Mighty hands. The main theme “Yuan’s Place” is a love story relating to a love triangle that in certain point of characters’ lives, love and Yuanfeng played important roles. The main theme “The protagonist must play” is an imminent story about success, failure and obsession that at a certain stage in my life, mainly concurrent, I met these kinds of situations in my life.
The contents themselves are not only restricted to experiences with God. I meant not only Christian spirituality that I was trying to say, I said lots of others, like success and failure, like hope and ignorance, like spirit and love as well as truth. Yes, as truth matters, I am saying it, as long as I am alive and excessively in need to win certain goals in my life. Fro publishing this short story collection, I am reaching higher and higher until I can reach the top of the said CN Tower. For higher, we sail; and of grief, we conquer.
