Other than God, there is not another three-letter
word or word of any length in the English language
lexicon, that is as important, regarding purposeful
living, i.e., experiencing life with meaning, as
possessing and being possesed wiih AWE. Carl
Gustav Jung declares,
         In the final analysis, we count for something
     only because of the essential awe embody, and
      if we do not embody that, life is wasted."

   Awe is a feeling of revenential respect intermixed
with wonderment, amazement and adoration. In a
certain way, it is a mystery that cannot be understood
. Awe defies sophistry insofar as reasoning and logic
are cocerned. However, the feeling of awe is
underniable to the experiencer. Like a peak experience
which is one way of describing the awe experience,
it may last for only a moment, or for a short duration,
but it may last for a lfetime, that is, its effects on the
experiencer.

   One such lasting experience for me occurred
when I and my Most Signficant Other, visited, for
the first time, the Grand Canyon. While observing
the handiwork of God displayed in uniqueness and
beauty, in a word,  I was awestruct. Being overcome
and overwhelmed by  my feelings, I was  unable to
share my feelings with my partner as I wanted to.
For me it was as if Heaven came down to Earth and
connected the temporal with the eternal. I lliterally
fell to my knees and with outstretched hands
shouted, "My God! My God! Beautiful! Thank you
God!" as I was greeted with a resounding
boomeraging and echoing sound.
    However, because awe is embodied within us
as is our spirit and the Kingdom that is within us,
even without encountering a physical object as
I did when I visited the Grand Canyon, we can
experience, more correctly, awake the awe within
us. As a state of God-consciousness, the awe
experience can be a way of life or lifestyle.
     Blockage of awe experiences often resulfs from
our beliefs, embodying traditions and the lack of
self-discovery that may remove us from
experiencing the present, especially in the spiritual
realm. Without awe alive life is wasted.
     Life is a terrible thing to waste'
