When complaining is not enough,
confrontation can be the equalizer
The purpose of this discourse is to issue a clarion call, a mandate, for Blacks in their struggle for equality - equality of opportunity, equality of participation and equality of achievement, to minimize complaining and maximize confrontation as the primary approach to employ in attacking White Supremacy and systemic racism.
White Supremacy action against Blacks began in what is now called America in 1619, some 400-plus years ago, when European slavers kidnapped Africans in Africa and enslaved them in America.
White Supremacy is the belief, doctrine and practice that white people constitute a superior race and should dominate society, typically in the exclusion or detriment of other racial and ethnic groups, in particular Blacks and Jewish people. It is rooted in the dis-credited of a scientific racism which extols white power and white privilege. However, it remains the belief of many Whites and is practiced perpetually in the American Society.
To reiterate, the focus here is on White Supremacy and how Blacks, beginning with the third decade of theTwenty-first Century, 2021, should accept the mandate to do less complaining and deliberately engage in confrontation in the pursuit of equity, i.e., having the piece of pie that rightly belongs to them. Needlessly to say, this involves Reparations for descendants of slaves in America.
It is obvious that complaining on the part of Blacks has not effectively dealth with White Supremacy that continues to rule as king in America. Complaining has been sufficient for Black's survival, but not for Blacks to be equal to non-Blacks in America. Complaining is like unto an automobile that takes a person to the Pacific Ocean, but to travel to the other side of the Ocean requires traveling by ship. Confrontation is like unto that ship, the approach to be employed in effectively confronting and defeating White Supremacy in America.
Let's be unmistakably clear, confrontation is a hostile, or argumentative meeting between opposing parties. It involves action taken to carrying out one's own will rather than the will of an opposing person or persons. It may require fighting and standing one's own ground. Depending on the nature of the action taken by the opposing party it may be nonviolent or violent. It is not being nonviolent when facing violence unless it is like unto the retreat of General Douglas MacArthur when facing what appeared to be an overwhelming force on the part of Japanese warriors in the Philippines during World War II. He retreated and said, "We shall return." He did with other soldiers and the rest is history. My brother Henry was one of those soldiers.
This is our fight. Hopefully, other races and ethnic Americans will join Blacks in defeating White Supremacy. I believe many will. For even with complaining victories won by Blacks have benefited non-Blacks, including white women.
As John Lewis who was almost beaten to death on Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama while marching for the right for Blacks to vote, said, "Fight the good fight." And near the end of his earthly life the Apostle Paul said, "I have fought the good fight." What will you say when you near the end of your earthly life?
