Dear friends,

I wish to introduce to you my book Excursion in my mind, published by Athena press London (www.athenapress.com), released online on 14 October, 2008 on amazon in the UK and US, which was launched at the British council auditorium, Accra, Ghana on 18 December 2008.

Excursions in my Mind is a collection of reflective essays and poems, supported by quotations from literary sources, the Bible and contemporary leaders. These reflections cover a broad sweep of issues that confront the average individual in everyday life, and touch on key issues such as self-help, leadership, love for one’s parents, nature of friendship and daily walk in faith in contemporary life. The topics are selected as randomly as events and circumstances confront the average person but are cogitated and ruminated upon, over and over again in my mind, intertwined with my own experiences and stories, a sort of perambulation in a labyrinth, but with an eventual egress, escorted by cogent lessons for life’s improvement.

My book is written from my point of view as a writer who is a christian (I like this description better than a christian writer, cos then I dont limit myself only to 'christian' topics). The topics are selected as randomly as events and circumstances confront me as an average person, a working professional, a christian worrking in a secular environment.

In this brilliant series of articles, supported by quotations from literary sources, the Bible and contemporary Church leaders, Nana Awere Damoah covers a broad sweep of the Christian faith as practised in every life.

The author's background in Engineering, studies in the UK as a British Chevening scholar and work for Unilever give him a sound base for outreach to his fellow believers. About the Author

Nana Awere Damoah was born in Accra, Ghana. He holds a Masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK, a first class degree in Chemical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, and spent all his Secondary school years at Ghana National College, Cape Coast, Ghana.

A British Council Chevening alumnus, Nana worked with Unilever Ghana Limited from 2000 till 2005 (when he left for further studies) and returned to Unilever Ghana in 2006 after his studies in UK.

His work with Joyful Way Incorporated, a Christian Music ministry in Ghana, of which he was National President from 2002 to 2004, takes a greater part of his spare time. He is in the Prayer and Counselling Department of the ministry and also plays the drums, when drummers are not available!

Nana started writing seriously in 1993 when he was in the Sixth form and has had a number of his short stories published in ‘The Mirror’ and ‘The Spectator’. His latest short story, 'No one can conceal evil', a story about Kwaku Ananse (the forklore spider) in contemporary times, was featured in 'The Mirror' for three weeks in June 2008. In 1997, he won the first prize in the Step Magazine National Story Writing Competition. In KNUST, he was part of the Literary Wing of the Interhall Christian Fellowship, where he acted and wrote poems. His poems were published in magazines on KNUST campus.

He is married to Vivian. The couple and their sons, Nana Kwame Bassanyin and Nana Yaw Appiah, are based in Accra, Ghana.
