Authors, and the New Industry of Electronic Publishing.

As authors, we have all experienced the breath of air being sucked from our lungs, at one time or another, from the impact only a rejection letter can deliver. Sometimes we rise above the rejection with little effort, and other times it hits at the very heart of the effort we impart just to deliver, all a publisher requests of authors.

We are not only creative geniuses, but editors - who must reach the highest level for submission. --
We are our own literary agents - if we don't have one. --
We are marketing gurus - most publishers request marketing strategies nowadays. --
We need to be PR experts - to boost our publisher's sales. --
We need the charisma of Steve Irwin - to face the public at book-signings and excite the reader into buying our stories. --
We need to have some knowledge of the Law - for contracts and copyright. --
We need to be lecturers in the field of creative writing - to lead new writers along the path to becoming authors. --
We need to have a degree in the English language - so as to roll effortlessly with the flow of creativity that rushes forth. --

I truly believe, that if we have reached the position of "Author" status, then we should stand proudly before the world, because no other career expects so much of one person, as being a writer does.

And I have just given myself a "pep" talk - one I needed desperately - because the goal I reach for is higher than any "Mount Everest" you will find on God's beautiful earth.

I truly, and sincerely, believe the Electronic Publishing Industry is the way of the future, and those who now sign contracts for eBooks, are simply the adventurers that pave that way.
