Witch Hunt opens with a sweeping, soaring Carl Orff- like score that soon dives into an electro-death roar that strikes like an abrupt kick to the head by a nocturnal, creepy, combat boot wielding spider.

David Ivy’s brainchild, SPF 1000, debuts with a concept album that expresses the caustic rage of those who might feel ostracized because of their quirky personality and manner of dress. The bruising "Horror Show" is a laundry list of disenfranchised interests, while "Agenda" offers a lashing at the mainstream from our jeering tattooed and pierced brethren. The title track "Witch Hunt" takes the mob-with-torches concept and twists it into an irreverent tongue-in-cheek song about the pursuit of cute, black bob coiffed punk rock and goth girls. "Nocturnal Emissions" is a song that demands to be played and replayed often.

Ivy, whose voice is reminiscent of Marilyn Manson and Ogre (Skinny Puppy), delivers his lyrics with a sneering and copious usage of whispers and primal screams that explores a wide panorama of emotions and perceptions.

Witch Hunt, on the whole, unlike many independent releases in the genre, was produced superbly. Recommended for those of you out there who enjoy Goth Electro Metal in the vein of The Electric Hellfire Club, Godhead and The Thrill Kill Kult.
