Das Ich could best be described as quirky, mysterious, and enduring. They’ve influenced the sound of industrial music as much as bands like Skinny Puppy, Einsturzende Neubaten, and Laibach ever did, but they've never quite realized the financial rewards for their efforts that those bands have. the band has been around for quite awhile, they've definitely paid their dues. Stefan Ackerman and Bruno Krams’ highly theatrical approach and unforgiving lyrics, performed in their native German tongue, have been a staple on the industrial scene since 1989. It is a run that includes fourteen albums, and countless tours in both Europe and the USA.

On their new album Lava Glut, they take their familiar industrial dance sound and introduce an epic layer of Carl Orff-like Teutonic symphonies as an undercarriage. Songs begin delicately and become increasingly more complex until many facets are exposed and many sharp edges revealed. It is an incredible mind fuck that is best enjoyed while sitting alone, enveloped in complete darkness.
