The Italian band Dope Stars Inc enters our musical world with their debut EP 10,000 Watts of Artificial Pleasures that is a equal parts fence riding raucous mix of new wave, Marilyn Manson glam, and Billy Idol fervor.

"10,000 Watts of Artificial Pleasures", the title and opening track is a sweet and sour tsunami wave of sound that feeds off a killer synth arpeggio that you couldn’t possibly be forget. Things continue with "Plug N’ Die", a track that is witty but whose length requires some serious pruning in order to bring out the best punch. The album takes a better turn with the catchy chorus and synth bridge of "Self Destructive Corp." From there is it is a but a small leap into the captivating cover of the 1993 Billy Idol Cyberpunk single "Shock to the System".

Dope Stars Inc.’s EP is wonderfully produced and mastered. It is a good foundation, but one that leaves room for some improvement in their song-writing, particularly with regard to their arrangements. A nice, new entry into the world of industrial and goth rock, they have raised the bar of expectations when they release their first debut full length album.
