Live Like You Were Dying
I hope all of you will allow me to be philosophical this month. For anyone who lives with a health conditions can relate to the recent number one hit by country music performer Tim McGraw. As the title says “Live Like You Were Dying” is a daily goal when you don’t know might wake up in the morning and find you have lost some of the ability you had the day before. At the end of each State Fair I can’t help but wonder if it will be my last. Since the things I mentioned above are out of the control of myself, and others in my same situation the only other option is live each day without regrets.
The first time I heard “Live Like You Were Dying” I was struck with the profound message contained in the lyrics of this song. Many people live their lives limited by the idea of death but fail to actually live.
If you found out your time on earth were limited would it cause you to live your life differently? I’m not sure I can say I would. Living with daily insecurity makes me want to live my life without regrets. Anything I want to do if it is at all possible I will try it.
The song, which was co-written by Hattiesburg native Craig Wiseman, was inspired from a conversation concerning someone who was misdiagnosed with cancer.
In closing let me say I think everyone could benefit from an opportunity to live our lives as if our time were limited. Too many people live as if there is no end and fail to fully savor the experiences, which we meet along the path of life.
