A cruise ship sinks 20 hours after striking ice near Antarctica.
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – The Explorer, a Canadian cruise ship, struck submerged ice off Antarctica and began taking on water, but all 154 passengers and crew took to lifeboats and were rescued safely Friday by a passing Norwegian liner.
A navy statement said the captain ordered passengers to abandon ship, and they and the crew took to eight semi-rigid lifeboats and four life rafts, with the captain leaving the ship afterwards, (which this reporter feels is in direct violation of nautical tradition.) The ship later went down without him.
A crack CSI investigation team flew in from Miami and were immediately incapacitated by the severe change of temperatures. Another team left the set in New York City and arrived seconds later to find incriminating DNA evidence to indicate the Explorer struck the very same iceberg that sunk the Titanic decades before.
“We may be victim to a serial iceberg” stated a Network official who requested anonymity due to questionable ratings.
In his luxurious home in Beverly Hills, Leonardo DiCaprio was awakened in the wee hours of the night by his enthusiastic agent.
