English as a second language

Now, I'm not one to toot my own horn, and I certainly don't want to appear uppity, but overshadowing this coming holiday season is my benevolent wish for a hearty congratulation from all my loving supporters for a job well done.

Several years ago I passed an interesting sign, “English as a Second Language. Buy One Get One Free!”

That struck me like a lightning bolt from fate.

Today I graduated! Just got my Green Cards in the mail, (That's there diploma.)

My teacher was amazed at how well I did. I told her I was good at picking up that sort of thing. To be honest, I was rather surprised myself, and experienced a lot of deja vu. They said I graduated first in my class which isn't much of a deal as most of my classmates were mumblers.

So now I know three languages, English...English...and English.

My guidance counselor said if I practice speaking with an accent I could probably work in a flea bag motel or even drive a taxi, but I told her my sights were not so high.

I think I'm going to apply for one of those bilingual overseas jobs...probably England.
