London was saved
Professor Ambrose Penwose Professes
Good Evening,
I’m sure by now you are well aware of, The Queens Knights of Piccadilly Royal Fusilier Bomb Catchers.
They were a secret society of fellows during The Blitz of World War II who saved London from the terrible wrath of The Hun.
When I speak of The Hun, better known as Gerry, kindly refrain from confusion with a friend of mine named Gerry, better known as Hun, by the flusies in a tavern we frequent frequently.
My uncle and his brother, better known to me as Daddy, were bomb catchers. Their job was to follow the whistling sound of falling bombs and catch them in bushel baskets. Any bloke who caught three bombs was considered an Ace. My uncle caught three actually, but the third was a dud, so it did not count.
The Fusiliers were headquartered within a classified complex. The secret address was considered “Top” and to this day completely unknown.
Daddy did divulge their building was just next door to that of Sherlock Holmes and surmises Holmes and Watson would have joined their regiment, being their flat was within walking distance, if they had still been alive, or even lived in the first place as many suggest had not been the case.
My Daddy’s Daddy would have also loved to have been a bomb catcher and able to do his part in the war effort as he had been disgraced in a previous war after being determined too heavy for The Light Brigade.
The later introduction of Buzz Bombs also introduced the departure of The Fusilier Bomb Catchers due to the size of the bombs, which were considered too abundant to catch.
Further insult was added as Buzz Bombs blew up the building where secret documents were hidden including all bomb catcher records.
No mention of their existence existed and to this day if you are to ask about them most Englishmen will say, “I know nothing of any Bloody Bomb Catchers?”
Penwose Out,
By George
