After a day in the pasture roosters tend to be worn out.

31 AUG 2018
Professor Penwose, Kiwi

Do they serve cage free eggs and chickens to penitentiary inmates?
I should think that would defeat whatever the purpose was to have them frolicking free from cages only to wind up being fed to fellows caged from frolicking free.
But what do I know? I only eat them I do not raise them. However I would think that, given a choice, they would rather be cooped in a coop than have done to them what I do.

Pasture raised hens have to constantly avoid being trampled by cattle, sheep, horses…prairie dogs, and of course wolves in sheep’s clothing which tend to enjoy the freedom from chicken wire. They are also susceptible to chicken rustlers.
Many become nervous and bite their fingernails at an early age.

After a day in the pasture roosters tend to be worn out.

My neighbor has a bunch of chickens he lets run wild and there are broken eggs all over the place. They poop anywhere they please.
Between the chicken poop, cow poop, horse poop, donkey poop, pig poop, sheep poop, etc there’s plenty of poop about. I try not to step in the dog poop. I always wear my hip boots over there.

I almost stepped on an egg once that was hatching and a two-headed chicken popped out. I always wondered about those double yokes?

My idiot neighbor has to run around chasing hens half the day with a tube of crazy glue to get eggs.
Now is that the type of environment you want your entrees coming from?

Have you ever seen a chicken, on a fool moon, that was bitten by a wolf?

Why’d the chicken cross the road? Because it wasn’t in a coop!

I’ve been to a boneless chicken ranch. Don’t go there!
Those pathetic cage free chickens are slithering and flopping all over the place. They can’t even lift their little heads. When they have an egg it rolls out. Pitiful, just pitiful!

Cage free chickens tend to run more with their heads cut off and don’t sit well in a broiler. Those raised non-cage free see it as just another place of confinement and are contented even though they probably wonder about their missing feathers?

Farmers with a little common sense need to use it.
Imagine what would happen to chickens going to market if they were not in cages. They’d all jump off the truck.

Nobody considers the person who builds the cages? What will happen to them when chickens run free?

Here at The University we have a class ready to graduate majoring in Chicken Coop Co-ops. They thought they had prestigious careers that would last a lifetime and now must either switch to Chicken Plucking, Frog Gigging, or divert their attentions to things like rocket science, quantum physics, and brain surgery.
I tell them nobody said life was fair.

Penwose Out,

At the checkout counter, they say, "caged or un-caged." I always say, as long as they don't contain plastic… Generally, to avoid the issue, I eat turkey.

Hilarious, as usual…

Bye, George,

Ron
