We would have been dead for the rest of our lives.

Glad to see you’re all still kicking, metaphorically speaking.
George had me tag along on disaster relief, which was a bit of a disaster I’m relieved to be able to say.
We were doing our daily walk through Fayetteville side streets when a wayward thunderstorm happened upon us as we happened upon a defenseless position not unlike being out in the open.
A bolt of lightning shot between us, which gave us quite a jolt and would have burned off my beard had I had one. George’s hair stood straight up from the static electricity and we conceded it not a good time for experiments, although we did get a bit of a spark when we touched hands.
Another bolt struck away further and we were almost out of danger except we were not. It hit a big tree which fell on the pavement just ahead of us, missing us once again by a beard’s breath had I had one.
Either occurrence could have been fatal.
Our path was blocked and we had to turn around and go where we had just been which was a bit of an nuisance, but I suppose not as bad as being electrified.
Those were close calls.
We would have been dead for the rest of our lives.
The story is a bit of a fabrication. The other night the line, "I would have been dead for the rest of my life," came to mind and since nothing, "Close call," ever happens to me, I had to make up a story.
As a humor writer I sometimes see the need for an injection of creativity every now and then.
I made a few close calls and determined that this story is quite electrifying. In fact, it made my eyeballs twitch and my hairballs stand on end. You had to be there, I wasn't.
A humorous look at the world and life through my eyes.
Follow the author and his wife, as they travel the world …. several times over.
Laugh at their funny stories, self-inflicted crazy events, strange observations, wacky zoo facts and snippets
