It was a dark and gloomy day.
Penwose, Kiwi
I wrote this yesterday, which is today as I write it, to be posted tomorrow, which is now today, and hopefully will be read before tomorrow. I’m so confused now, which is now yesterday.
Yesterday was Valentine’s Day and I did not wish to ruin the sentiment I posted then.
I opened my eyes in darkness. A glance at the clock told me it was eight o’clock in the morning. How can this be? Dark at 8:oclock. It was obviously a rain day, or a huge mother ship was blocking out the sun? I’m going with rain day. We get very few in Las Vegas, but when we do everybody complains. Others are buried in blizzards and we complain about a little sprinkle.
Today is my shopping day so I must go out with the idiots. These people cannot drive in the rain.
Well what kind of a day is it going to be? It started out raining, what’s next?
First stop Dunkin Donuts for a bagel and coffee. I pulled up in front of the place to an empty lot. I’ve had a few close calls with people almost backing into my vehicle, so I’ve long since parked on the far side by myself. This time it backfired.
Just as I emerged from my vehicle a truck with three fat people sped passed me and zoomed into a handicapped spot right in front of the door. They were not handicapped, they were fat. They moved surprisingly fast for fat folks but them donuts sort of overwhelmed them. I found myself in line behind them. Not a good place to be! When they were done, about a half-hour later, their arms were full of big flat boxes which they were eating as they left, and the shelves were empty. Glad I just wanted a bagel.
This particular Dunkin is a training site. There are new Dunkin Donutters there all the time, which causes problems for me.
They never push the right buttons when I order and my coffee seems as though it comes from another planet and they were hearing about it for the first time. On this day things went well…WRONG!
There was also a different manager. He shouted commands here and there and evidently thought he was some sort of primo-donna. I did not concur. I found him annoying.
I have to grit my teeth as I write this. HE made my bagel.
The result was one of my biggest pet peeves. He failed to apply a sufficient amount of cream cheese.
It looked like the fat people were returning for more donuts so I had to hurry to stay ahead of them. I told him of the discrepancy and showed him my bagel.
Now he really ticked me off!
He said that was a normal cream cheese allotment.
“OH NO IT ISN’T,” said I, “AND I SHOULD KNOW, I’VE BEEN COMING HERE FOR OVER FIVE YEARS!”
I knocked him off of his high horse, and his people smiled as he mumbled something and gave me mo cheese.
“Everytime you bring in new people I have to retrain them,” I said, “I wish you would explain to them what a fair amount of cheese is, after someone explains it to you, because it is nowhere near what you first said it was. I should not have to experience high anxiety when I buy a bagel.”
I guess I told him!
I left the store feeling quite good about myself until I stepped in a puddle that soaked my feet up to my ankles.
I hate rain days!
