Hinkly Dinkly on Sports

Hinkly Dinkly on Sports

There is nothing sadder for a man in a manly world, than to wake up on a Sunday morning, look at the TV schedule, and see no football. It just ain’t manly.

Hockey is ok, but not something I’d go out of my way for. If I’m there and a games is on, I’ll watch it, but I have to have the sound turned up so when the home teams scores that big fog horn will wake me.

I’m not in the right state of mind for golf. If the day ever comes when all I can do is blink my eyes, I may be comatose enough to watch it…if they aim me in the right direction?

Basketball…now there’s an interesting sport. You can chop up the film, cut and past the pieces in various other places, and no one would know the difference.

These “other sports” may be better than nothing, but none are better than football.

So where is the new league? The AAF was supposed to be carried on CBS? That would have been perfect. Ten more weeks of football similar to the NFL. Most of us would watch it if we could, but we can’t.
It’s on The NFL Network.
Nobody with half a brain pays for the NFL Network!
If it ain’t free, it ain’t for me!
That’s where teams go for oblivion.
They are playing even as I speak, and you read. I hope they have big crowds other than their mothers and her friends, because nobody is watching them in TV land.

It’s raining so I can’t even cut the grass. I mean like how many times can you take out the garbage?

I’m bored.

Hinkly Out,

Methinks it's a big mistake for the AAF to be on the NFL network like you said. That will certainly kill the fledgling league.

But I don't need football to get my jollies. I'm hooked on the manly sport of NASCAR. Both in the stands and on television, the biggest audience of any sport. Yesterday, there was a 21 car pileup during the Daytona 500. No major injuries. I miss the days when a driver or two got killed, but then I miss the Colosseum with all those Christians and lions. ;-)

Damn!… Missed the Daytona 500 and all those crashes! Must've been on AD or something.
