How low can we set the bar?
Did you know…
If you shake-up an egg the chicken will be crazy.
You can lead a horse to water but a pencil must be lead.
That little ditty was originated by Stanley Laurel. Do not assume it was written by me other than writing it just now.
These and other “things,” are part of our curriculum at the university, which we like to call Tense and Dense, even though the student body tends to be denser than the curriculum, and in fact majority wise impenetrable.
They seem to be the future of America, which appears bleak at best.
It has been suggested by The Regent that we offer a foreign language agenda with a degree in something foreign. We have considered such an agenda, and although we find it an attractive incentive to leave the country, most of our students are here due to bribes, and the learning curve would have to be set too low. Furthermore, the virtual melting pot from which they came makes it unfeasible to find a common language to use in comparison to the foreign words.
Take for instance Abner and Huckleberry, they are from the same mountain yet have no idea what the other is saying? We feel if we teach them a foreign language they will not be able to communicate with their own kinfolk when they went home.
The Regent also suggests we upgrade the Fun With Dick and Jane portion of our entrance exams to include pets other than Spot and Puff who are undoubtedly dead by now.
We are considering the matter and open for suggestions.
