Discretion
Before I get into what I’m about to tell you I’ll tell you a little about discretion.
Discretion is the better part of valor.
A world without discretion is chaos.
Discretion before dishonor.
An ounce of discretion is like a ton of bricks
Discretion in the hand. is when you’re glad you don’t have the bricks.
Discretion is a dish better served cold.
Give me discretion or give me death
Without discretion, everything is nothing.
We can see that discretion is popular, but what exactly is it?
I looked up Indiscretion, which they say is the opposite or lack of discretion which does us no good without the meaning of discretion which was on a page torn from my dictionary, which is a bit disturbing as it was within my computer?
There was no reference to discretion in The Devil’s Dictionary, but I did find this dandy…

American Dictionary
The power or right to decide or act according to one's own judgment.
British Dictionary
1. The quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid social embarrassment or distress.
2. Freedom or authority to make judgments and to act as one sees fit.
I should think The British had problems with discretion as their empire was crumbling, but that is really not for me to say, due to my discretion.
I found one more I liked in The Devil’s Dictionary…
CORPORATION, n. An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility.
I Like that! We should have a corporation!
Here in the good old US of A, the discretion of the Supreme Court has determined that corporations are people, too. So they can vote, use their money to influence elections and make sure that all of their political moves add to their profits.
We now have the most discretionless president since Teddy Roosevelt. Isn't that just so sweet?
