Do you make your bed? Why?
Home Economics 101
This is part of a non-disclosed collegiate curriculum. We assume you already know how to read. If you do not, “Press Here.”
Who/whom of you out there makes your bed in the morning? Why?
Seriously why? You’re only going to mess it up again. The only one who cares is your mother, and we hope you are still not living with her. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
You don’t care do you? If so, Why? Nobody sees it. Even if you have company calling, they do not traipse to your bedroom, unless it is “Really Good” company, in which case you should not be concerned with how the bed looks as long as it is inviting.
You may want to hide Teddy Bears, dollies, and stuff like that?
If you are going to make your bed, you might as well paint the walls everyday to. As we said, the only one who cares is your mother. Unless you are in the military.
THEY are your mother, and YOU WILL MAKE YOUR BUNK EVERYDAY!
We had to make ours everytime we got up to go to the bathroom. A friend of mine had a bladder problem. The poor guy never got any sleep. He started peeing his bunk so he didn’t have to make it, but that brought on other problems.
Living in a barracks situation is unique. There is really nothing but bunks in it. Officers and noncoms are constantly going in and out. Inspections go on all the time. How would it look if the floor and walls were gleaming and the bunks were, shall we say, untidy?
The bunks must be made and snapped tight so that a dime will bounce off the sheet.
I always wondered if the inspecting officer walked around with a dime in his pocket?
I’d like to see a homeless guy walk up to an officer outside the base and say, “Can ya spare some change for an old War Hero, Admiral?”
And him answer, “Sorry, I only have a dime and I need it for an inspection.”
I suppose nowadays due to inflation a quarter is used?
The point is, unless you are in the military, no one is going to know if you make your bed or not, unless your mother suddenly drops by.
I smile when I think of many of you seeing their moms coming up the path and running upstairs to make your bed.
I suppose in your cases it is better to be ready ahead of time.
You may want to throw some clothes on the line so she doesn’t think you’re sitting around doing nothing.
Making one’s bed is preference. Be sure it’s what You prefer.
To those of you with learning difficulties and problems with reality…we are not talking about actually making a bed everyday. We only mean tidying up the one you sleep in.

Glad I never had to be in the military. But I found making my bed one of the easier things I did every day without thinking. Fortunately, I have reached my second childhood in my older age. My caregivers now take care of my bed for me… Tuck me in, turn me over, get me up, etc. Making my bed is no longer a concern of mine. Thank you very much.
Bye, George,
