ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I found this word in an article and I wondered why would anybody not pretentious use such a word? It is either a frivolous attempt to flaunt an insecure degree of higher education, or an attempt by a lowlife to project a higher education persona not included in his/her credentials. In either, the outcome is neither.

The general population, of which we are apart of, generally has no idea what the word means. I looked it up.

To transform, especially into a dangerous form.

Examples of use in a sentence;
The KGB metastasized after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Truth metastasized into lurid fantasy.
What starts out as Casual Friday must metastasize eventually into Slumming Sunday.

I could say, My Xwife metastasized into what she is today…but I won’t.

Other publications say; It is a pompous showy word intended to make the user seem ostentatiously lofty or high-flown.

You probably are asking what is ostentatious? I know I was. I looked that up…characterized by or given to pretentious or conspicuous show in an attempt to impress others…That’s metastasized!

Any or all of these words could be used in place of metastasized to mean the same thing and be understood. So why use metastasized?

It is something for a pompous ass to proclaim what he is.
