I know she is, so what am I?
Today’s new word is Lycanthropy, which is actually an old word meaning; A delusion or curse, in which one imagines oneself to be a wolf, a werewolf.
Actually I need to find a word that means someone who thinks another is cursed, for my wife doesn’t think she is a werewolf, I do.
I know she is, so what am I?
In the years before she was committed, I spent much time roaming abroad on, “The Continent.”
On one such adventure I found myself traveling to Transylvania by train, which was apparently the only way a gentleman got there.
In an old quaint shop, I purchased a cane similar to the one from “The Wolfman,” with a startling Wolf’s Head on one end, and a nail clipper on the other, which I found invaluable, since I have long had fused bones in my vertebra, leaving me unable to bend to clip my toenails.
Meanwhile, back in the states…Penwose was not there yet so he had no idea what was happening?
Penwose had read that speaking in the third person was a way to gain insight and wisdom. Penwose had yet to perceive any alteration.
Actually Penwose found the third person thing a bit of a drain on his mind, so with no further adieu, will slip back into normal mode.
Back on my estate I was happy to see my Wife By Marriage was still where I had chained her. Her food had long since vanished and there were several carcasses lying about.
I told her we were going inside to watch something on the tele.
I put a cassette into the VCR and we sat with high anxiety.
She started to chew the couch.
I was particularly interested in this tape to check the validity of the cane I had purchased. When I showed it to her she began to cower.
“You want to bash my head in with that don’t you?” she raved.
“Actually I do not,” I replied, “But now that I think about it…”
When she saw that we were watching, The Wolfman, with Lon Chaney, she started to growl.
When the moon came out, she started to howl.
I also considered she may be a vampire. The folks in Transylvania say a vampire has no reflection in a mirror. I often watched her preparing for a night out on the town. She always looked in the mirror to put on her makeup, but if you saw how messy it was you would swear she could not see herself.
History does not tell of a case where a person is both a lycanthropist and a vampire, but I must say, if it is possible, she is it.
