I’ve been watching a TV series known as Black Flags.
It’s a pirate movie from The Good Old Days before Treasure Island, when many of the characters were young.

Captain Flint is the main feature, and his gold, which they haven’t gotten yet,( I’m only half-way through it) was the main feature of Treasure Island.

The show stealing character of Treasure Island was Peg Legged Long John Silver.
In Black Flags he’s a young cook, with two able bodied legs.
I wondered how and when they were going to cut it off?
Young Billy Bones was there, along with Ben Gunn, found on an island, which seems to be his thing.
I’m still waiting for Black Dog and The Black Spot to appear.

Anyway, says I, one day, says you, Bad Pirates, (Oxymoron?) capture John Silver, (Not yet called Long John,) and beat his leg so severely it has to be cut off, (End of wonderment.)

I waited to see which leg it was? When he was finally able to hop out on deck I saw his Left leg was gone.

Special effects had him limp out with two legs and then erased one of them. It’s an old Hollywood trick.

Its been a long time since I saw Treasure Island but I was sure they cut off the wrong leg?

I went to work and downloaded several versions of Treasure Island.
I was surprised to see there are 50 movie and TV versions.

Well, I can tell you right now I wasn’t going to watch all of them.
I downloaded three and watched two.

The first had Robert Newton as Long John. The best pirate of all time! If you ever get a chance to see him as Blackbeard, take it.

The other good one had Wallace Berry as Long John. He was the most likeable.

I watched the first first. Robert Newton walked out with his Left leg missing…Just like in Black Sales.
I was wrong about them being wrong?

Later I watched Wallace Berry’s version. His Right Leg was made out of wood.

I KNEW IT! Somebody somewhere had the wrong leg!

How can anybody make such a mistake?
“Nice surgery Doc, but you cut off the wrong leg.”

Some details can be overlooked, but a leg? Two movies show him with different peg legs.

That is a Blooper that should not have happened.
