Do you think horses talk to each other?

Horse Talk

Do you think horses talk to each other?
Think about it, they spend hours and hours in a corral with other horses. How could they not say something? It isn’t natural.

Horses like Trigger never talked, along with Black Beauty, and the Lone Rangers horse Silver. They were too famous, to talk to common horses.

Therobreds like those who race at Churchill Downs are far too high-strung and uppity to talk to ordinary peon horses.
There are exceptions however.
A horse who won The Kentucky Derby and was being led back to the coral, passed by another runner and said, “Loser!”
“Yer Mama!”
A fight ensued and the loser had to be destroyed.

Cowboys usually rode common quarter horses who were quite vocal when nobody was around to hear them.

Lone horse tied to hitching post in front of saloon. Horse and rider pull up beside him. Rider gets off, ties his horse to hitching post, and goes into saloon.
After a few minutes horses look around to see if anyone is near.
Seeing none, horse that just arrived whispers, “Howdy.”
“eh!”
Do you come here often?
Too often.
I know what you mean. I hate coming here. I never know when My cowboy is coming out and he always comes out drunk.
My cowboy weighs 350 pounds. I hope he never comes out.
350 Pounds? How do you take the weight?
Not very well. My back his killing me, and I have fallen arches.
Why don’t you run off?
I did a few times, but I always come back for hay and water.
Yeah, that’s tough.
The tough part is our ranch is five miles away.
Five miles?
Yeah! Can you imagine 350 pounds on your back for five miles?
I don’t even want to think about it.
You should see when he wants to gallop after rabbits.
You gallop with him on your back?
I gotta get outta here. Chew these ropes.
Why don’t you chew them?
I have bad gums.
These aren’t ropes, they’re leather. You can’t chew through them.

Maybe I can pull out the entire post?

Where are you going to go with a hitching post around your neck?

Good point!

Do what I do. When he saddled me this morning I blew my stomach out. Now whenever I let out a breath and hold it, the saddle falls off.
I usually do it when he comes out drunk. He never gets it when he falls off.

You say you hold your breath?

Yeah. Here he comes. Watch what happens.

Cowboy comes out, mounts horse, horse lets out a breath, saddle slides, cowboy falls off.

Horses laugh.

Penwose Out,

You done forgot about that talking horse on TV! Mister Ed. Could talk up a storm to humans. Or was that a talking donkey?

When horses talk or laugh are they hoarse?
