A November day in 1963 put ordinary life on hold in a younger, more naive America - an innocence lost in a free nation.............
"The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe-the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God."( excerpt of John F. Kennedy Inaugural Address - January 20, 1961- Washington, D.C.) That fateful November day in 1963 - that Friday, the 22nd of November - will always be instilled in the back of the minds of those who were busy going about their daily chores. Our routine came to a sudden halt that day. We had lost our President - the young and vibrant President that would lead our nation into a new dimension, a dimension that we will never know now. My remembrance of that fateful day - a day that I was in the fourth grade in school. When I saw my teacher come back from the classroom door after talking with our principal, I knew something was wrong when I saw the tears streaming down the sides of the teachers face. She could not say anything - she was numb and speechless. As she picked up the piece of white chalk , she told us that a terrible thing had just happened to our country. Slowly she wrote in big letters on the chalkboard -"Our President Is Dead". America had lost its Camelot......
