ESL teachers with certifications are a growing job industry globally. These teachers have an great opportunity to teach in exotic places around the world and experience new cultures. In the U.S., the ESL teacher specially is a growing part of education needed to support incoming immigrants.
The global demand for teachers with English as second language (ELS) certification has been increasing. In English speaking countries, such as the United States, immigrants require English instruction to become vital members of society. Other countries, such as China, have come to understand that English is the unifying language of business globally and encourage their citizens to learn English as a second language.
In the United States, ELS teachers must be state certified in order to teach ELS courses. Many teaching organizations, such as the National Council of Teachers of English, encourage ELS instructors to have training, if not certification, when teaching ESL courses internationally.
