There were gas shortages in the 1970's and the price of gas didn't go up. There were times when Carol Speed found herself getting into long gas lines just to fill both tanks on her silver Jaguar. But the extraordinary thing is why did the gas stay the same price in the 1970's and there were gas lines wrapped around the block. And now in 2008 a gas shortage is a cue for the powers that be who are "bumping everyone's heads against the wall" are charging outrageous prices every time some one said gas shortage? What happened at OPEC for them to start demanding certain price levels when they know that its ruining the world economy? Why didn't OPEC raise the gas prices in the 1970's? What it appears to be is just plane price gouging by the gas companies and OPEC.
