Created from the dust of the earth, formed perfectly by the hands of a sculptor, man was carefully crafted to reflect the image of God. With God’s breath of life following through his nostrils man was more than a simple work of art, he was a life form with the capability to think, speak and experience emotion. He was now a being of vast intelligence with a purpose.
Then from the man a woman was created, but in creating the woman a special ingredient was selected. A rib was placed within her body which was taken from man. She was his mate, a source of power and support to forever be at his side. God beautifully designed the human race using an intricate formula that only he could devise. Different from the other creatures that dwell on this planet mankind was made to be dominant. We are God’s treasure and each day of our lives is a gift.
At times however, we forget just how special we really are. Often, we try to reflect an image that is set by society which leaves us dissatisfied with our true appearance, and that is because by world standards, we are simply not good enough the way we are. Unless faced with life threatening issues so a change is crucial to improve health, fixing a problem that was not there to begin with is actually disfiguring an already perfect form.
We cannot all be the same, humanity is varied due to race, skin tone, size, height, shape and thought patterns, and that just proves that God delights in diversity. We need to stop comparing ourselves to those around us, only our personal views of ourselves depict our level of magnificence, not the views others may have of us. When we choose to accept that in God’s eyes we are a wonderful creation, we will then understand our real value.
We are the reflection of a supreme and holy being whose unconditional love for us is undeniably, all that is required is that we love ourselves. Do not be consumed by the outward appearance but instead focus mainly on what lies within, for the heart reveals genuine beauty which is shown through action. Appreciation of self means gratefulness for God’s workmanship.
