As a beginning guitarist, playing with other kids who also play is one of the best things that you can do. It's even better if these kids can play better than you.
Remember: There's more than one way to skin a cat (or a guitar). The more ways you can learn, the better.
You will want to do this sooner or later anyway, so you may as well start as soon as you can play a few chords.
The reason that you want to play with someone who is better than you is so that you can learn from them. You won't be able to learn from someone who is at or below your level. Don't get me wrong, you should play with those kids too just for the fun of it. Fun is good. But playing with someone who is better than you just gives you one more (and pretty cool) way to learn.
Playing with other people is what it's all about anyway. If you can find someone who can play bass guitar, or the keyboards, or drums, hook up with them and see if you can get a "band thing" going.
Doing this can also help stop you from being too bored from practicing. Yep, practicing can be boring. But if you have something to look forward to -- such as playing music with other kids -- You just might start to see the reasons for some of the things that you have to put up with while practicing the other stuff.
Make it fun by playing with others - You'll be making music.
