It is hard to kick against the prick Paul(Saul): his first name was Saul. Both of his parents were Jews. He was sent to Jerusalem for his education, and became a very learned and prominent Pharisee. What befell him as he journeyed to Damascus, is related three times in the Acts, first by the historian in his own person, then in two addresses made by St. Paul at Jerusalem after our Saviour/Messiah's death, which makes him speak of himself "born out of due time." The Acts of The Apostles: None of the 12 apostles were, humanly speaking, fitted to preach the gospel to the cultivated Gentile world. God raised up another instrument among the highly educated and zealous Pharisees. The preparation of Saul of Tarsus for the work to be done, the progress of that work in his hand, his journeyings, preachings and perils, his stripes and imprisonments, his testifying in Jerusalem, and being brought to testify at Rome, these are subjects of the latter half of the book, of which the great central figure is the Apostle Paul.
