Sharing my sunday school lesson from October 13, 2002. This devotional came from Ephesians 5:8-17. Promise "I" -- Pardon for Sins & Iniquities Pardon. Verses 8,15,16,17 -- The Impartation (to give) of True Wisdom Wisdom Is To Be Sought -- Ephesians 5:15,16,17 Wisdom Actually Attained -- Ephesians 5:8 Verse 8 "For" ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: "For" -- Isaiah 9:2 -- Prophecies Concerning Christ, Journey to Galilee Verses 15,16,17 "See" then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, "See" -- Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. "Walk" -- I Thess 4:12, Industrial Employments & Products, Industry Enjoined That they may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. "Redeeming" the time, "because" the days are evil. "Redeeming" -- Gal 6:10 -- Duties & Graces of The New Life -- Steadfastness (firmly established) As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. "because" -- John 12:35 -- Figurative Characters of Christ, The Light of the World Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. "because" -- Ephesians 6:13 -- The Believer's Weapons & Warfare Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but "understanding" "what" the will of the Lord is. "understanding" -- Romans 12:2 -- Duties & Graces of The New Life -- Non-Conformity to the World And be not confirmed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind; that ye may prove what iws that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Verse 9 -- Blessedness of The New Life, The Indwelling of the Spirit (For the Fruit of the Spirit is in goodness and righteousness & truth;) Verses 10,11,12 -- Sins of The Flesh, Works in the Flesh in General Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have not fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. "reprove" -- rebuke/covict Verses 13,14 -- Effectual Calling, Man Co-operates But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. "reprove" -- discovered Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
