David's Prayer for Solomon - Psalm 72:1-7 Promise - "I" - Pardon for Sins & Iniquities Promised -- Acts 10:43 David(beloved), king, son of Jesse, Ruth 4:22, I Chr 2:15, Matthew 1; anointed by Samuel I Sa 16:22; his zeal & faith I Sam 17:26; eats of the shewbread I Sam 21, Psalm 52 Solomon(peaceful), king of Israel II Sa 12:24, I Kings 1:2, 2:25; his wise judgment I Kings 3:16, builds the temple II Sa 7:12, I Chr 17:11; visited by the Queen of Sheba I Kings 10, Eccl 1:1,; his idolatry rebuke & death I Kings 11:1,9,41 Psalm 72:1-7 Verses 1,2,4,6,7,8,9,10,11,12.13 -- Regal Govt, Solomon's Dominion, Typifying That of Christ (Verses 8-13 you can read them on your own) GIVE the king thy judgments, O God and thy righteousness unto the king's son. "He" shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. "He" -- Isaiah 11:2,3 -- Prophecies Concerning Christ, Preaching And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes neither reprove after the hearing of his eyes: (Take some time and read Psalm 72 and Isaiah 10) Psalm 72:1-7 Verses 4,5,6,7 "He" shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. "He" -- Isaiah 11:4 -- Prophecies Concerning Christ, Preaching But with righeousness shall he judge the poor, and "reprove" with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. "reprove" -- argue Verses 5,6,7 They shall fear thee "as" long as the sun and moon endure, throughtout all generations. "d" -- Psalm 72:7, Psalm 72:17 Verses 6,7 He shall come down like rain upon the mow grass: as showers that water the earth. In his days shall the righteous flourish "and" abundance of peace "so" long as the moon endureth. "and" -- Isaiah 2:4 -- Eschatology (Last Things), The Millennium, Universal Peace And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation neither shall they learn war any more. Psalm 72:3 Verse 3 -- THE Earth, Mountains The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills by righteousness.
