3 Presidents & Daniel 4/20/08 Sunday School Lesson

Biblical - Parable? - Comparative (Compared to what) - Symbolic?

Parable - a heavenly message with an earthly message

This is as far as I could take this particular sunday school lesson.  It might would be good lesson for someone to look at.

Daniel 6:2-3, 4-7, 10, 16, 19, 21, 25-26

Verse 2

And over "these" three presidents; ... of whom Daniel was "first:" ... that "the princes might give "accounts" unto them, ... and "the" king should have no damage.

"these" - them

"first" - one

"the" - these satraps

"accounts" - account

"the" - that the

Verse 3

Then this Daniel was "preferred" above the presidents and "princes," ... because an excellent spirit was in him; ... and the king thought to set him ... over the whole realm.

"preferred" - distinguished above

"princes" - satraps

Verse 4

"Then" the presidents and "princes" sought to find occasion against Daniel "concerning" the kingdom; ... but they could not find none occasion nor fault, ... neither was there any error ... or fault found in him.

"Then" - Ecclesiastes 4:4

Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbor.  This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.

"travail" - be in labor, painful effort, to toil (continue to work)

"princes" - the satraps

"concerning" - as touching

Verse 5

Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, ... except we find it against him ... concerning the law of his God.

Verse 6

Then these presidents and "princes" "assembled" together to the king, and said thus unto him, "king" Darius live for ever.

"princes" - satraps

"assembled" - Or, came tumultuously (great uproar and confusion of voices)

"king" - Verse 21 (Daniel 6:21)

Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

Verse 7

All the presidents of the kingdom, ... the "governors," and the princes, the counsellors, and the "captains" have consulted together to establish a royal statue, and to make a "firm" "decree," that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

"governors" - deputies and the satraps

"captains" - governors

"firm" - strong, interdict, that

"decree" - Or, interdict

Verse 10

"Now" when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; "and" his windows being open in his chamber "toward" Jerusalem, "he" kneeled upon his knees "three" times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

"Now" - And when

"and" - now his windows were opened

"toward" - Psalm 5:7

But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of they mercy; and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

"he" - and he

"three" - Acts 10:9

On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

Verse 16

Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions.  Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou hast servest continually, he will deliver thee.

Verse 19

Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in hsste unto the den of lions.

Verse 21

Then said Daniel unto the king, "O" king, live for ever.

"O" - Daniel 2:4

Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in "Syriack," O king, live for ever:  tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.

"Syriack" - the Syrian language

Verse 25

Then the king Darius wrote unto all "people," nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

"people" - the peoples

Verse 26

"I" make a decree, That in "every" domionion of my kingdom men "tremble" and fear before the God of Daniel:  "for" he is the living God, and steadfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall  not be "destroyed," and his domionon shall be even unto the end.

"I" - Daniel 4:1

NEBUCHADNEZZAR the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

"every" - of all the domionion

"tremble" - Daniel 3:29 ( in your spare time you may read Daniel 3:29)

"for" - Psalm 99:1

THE Lord reigneth; let the people tremble:  he sitteth between the Cherubims; let the earth be moved.

"destroyed" - Daniel 4:34

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I  ..... praised ........ and ....... honored ...... him that liveth for ever whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

"honored" - Esteem due or paid to worth; good name; A mark of respect; A ceremonial sign of consideration; dignity and courage; excellence of character, An honor to his nation, (Honest)

Praised - To glorify, God, by homage; to magnify in song; expressed approval; honor rendered, subject or reason of praise

Standing (stand) - be at rest, an upright position or firm position, To be, grow, become, upright in its proper place, To pause, stop; To hold one's ground; steadfast, To agree, To cause to stand, stand by
