Most people live their lives with a sense of conscience, meaning they gauge their actions on the moral concept of right or wrong. They don't steal because it is considered wrong to do so. They don't commit murder because it is right to value human life, their own as well as others. They feel a sense of integrity when they conform to moral norms, and feel guilt or remorse if they violate them. However, there are millions of people who do not live by these same rules.

There is some disagreement on how to define the terms Antisocial Personality Disorder, Sociopath, and Psychopath. While some people use the terms interchangeably, many in the psychological professionals prescribe to the following belief; ASPD is the diagnosable disorder, and sociopathy and psychopathy are subsets of the disorder.
