It's not a matter of who is right, but what is right...

It has recently come to my attention that certain people are trying to browbeat Muslims about their use of the  word “God”. They allege that Muslims do so to make their “Allah” acceptable to others.

For your information, Allah is not just another “god”.  Anyone who believes in a universal Lord would know that when someone speaks of this one Lord he means just this One Lord. Perhaps not a good analogy, but if someone were to speak of someone he knows by calling him a certain name, and someone else who also knows this person but by another name speaks of the same person, it goes without saying that the person spoken of by both parties is one and the same person.

"Allah”     translated into English means "the-God" "Al" being "the" "ilah" being “god”.  Arabic Bibles use "Allah" as there is no other word in Arabic for God. Talk to any Christian Arab and he will tell you his Creator is Allah  .

Allah is the proper name of the Creator. Anyone can, however, adopt anything as their "god" or “ilah”: money, power, saints, prophets, etc. There are those who worship the "sun" and the "fire" and these become their "gods". For some Satan, may he be cursed, is their "god".  

In the English language the word "god" can be tempered with virtually by anyone: god, gods, goddess, goddesses, godfather, godmother, etc.

Muslims believe this Universe has a Creator and everyone in this vast Universe is created by this One Maker. Muslims do not consider themselves as the sole creation of Allah nor do they see others as being created by other than Allah. 

Muslims sometimes call "Allah" God when writing in English. It is not because they are trying to smooth talk to anyone but because they understand in the English language God is the equivalent of the Almighty Lord.
