KNOW YOURSELF
Love of self, valuing and respecting yourself will make you more powerful than any abuse, negative energy or disrespect another may try to send your way. Know what it is about yourself that empowers you, and what it is that makes you vulnerable to the perceptions of others. Hold to your own Truth by knowing what it is and why you believe it to be so. Knowing yourself means you will know when the perceptions of others, that they are projecting onto you, are about themselves and not truthfully about you at all. You then become the Observer of their journey but not a participant in their perceptions that may try to devalue you as a person.
What empowers you, and what makes you vulnerable. Consider what empowers you in order to be able to better recognise your own worth, and what makes you vulnerable in order to better prepare and protect yourself from de-energising environments and relationships.
Empowerment does not come from power over someone else, but rather from self-control and respect of yourself; of recognising your own abilities and talents, not in an egotistical manner but as a valid recognition of your own worth. Take an honest inventory of your talents, abilities and accomplishments. Note them down in a diary or journal of some form so that in the times of vulnerability you can refer back to them and remind yourself of your own value. Then stop and consider all the “miracles”, blessings and positive surprises that have occurred in your life – those times that reaffirm the love of friends and family or the appreciation or recognition received from others. Note down the times when the Universe amazed you or showed you some aspect of yourself that helped you see your purpose in the bigger picture of the NOW. The old adage of count your blessings is a great recommendation. Remember the positive events, experiences and relationships in your journey and one more thing – that tomorrow is another day – amongst all those tough times, there has always been another day, a better day, a day to regain faith in yourself, and mankind.
Protect yourself, from those things which attack your soul and devalue your truth of self. Do you know what they are? Again take the time for yourself to consider what it is in your journey that de-energizes, and what you are going to do about it? If you cannot immediately physically separate yourself from a toxic relationship or workplace make plans to do so, and in the meantime become the Observer not the participant by remembering who you truly are, The Person not the circumstances
