Who you are to yourself
Will determine who you are to others

If there is a possibility

You will later regret
What you said
Don't say it
You already know
Its not worthy of you

We need to learn to speak, think & act in ways which are worthy of Our Truth, Our Self Worth, Our Values & Our own Integrity. Who you are to yourself will determine who you are to others. That is far more relevant than who others are to you.

How many times have we thought or said " X makes me so angry" or "it's Y fault I lost my temper", "I said it because its true & Z deserved it"?

But what about the You in those responses?
No one can truly make us think or speak against who we are, against our values or self worth. No one can really make us act outside our own integrity in the normal circumstances of Life.

We can allow these things to happen, perhaps by our own lack of self control, or stress, tiredness or emotional distress but no one can truly make us angry. The choice is our own. Our anger is our own, & theirs is theirs. Its a choice we make for ourselves, about ourselves, & in making it, we are also choosing the consequences. The destruction of a relationship, the loss of trust or perhaps a job. The loss of someone else's respect. The devaluation of a child's self worth.

Mainly though, we are choosing to be less than we know ourselves capable of being.

No one is perfect. We make mistakes. We choose words or the timing unwisely. We express anger at ourselves by hurting others. When that happens we need to forgive ourselves, AND,  we need to learn from the experience.

We need to learn to speak, think & act in ways which are worthy of Our Truth, Our Self Worth, Our Values & Our own Integrity. Who you are to yourself will determine who you are to others.

Before you are tempted to react, become the Observer of yourself. Before you speak or act, step back in your heart & mind, and take an eagle's view of the situation. Whats going to happen 30 mins from now, tomorrow, next time? Where is this moment leading? If you don't like the road ahead, change direction now, in this Now.

Be worthy not only of who you are, but of who you know you can become, in all the Now and Future moments. Know you are better than the situation. Know you are worthy to be all you know yourself to be, beyond any challenging moment in time.

Who you are to yourself will determine who you are to others

Great thoughts! Define yourself and act accordingly. Don't let others define who you are or how you should act. That is something we all should memorize.
