The surest way to discover the specific assignment of God for your life is to plunge into the general will of God. The general will of God encompasses all that you need to know for a victorious life. The word of God makes this clear in Joshua 1:8: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”. Living your life by the written word of God has a way of directing your path in the way of your destined assignment. You may not have a clue or inkling about your assignment, but as you keep living by the written word of God and maintaining your focus and consistency, the Lord himself leads you to the place of your assignment. If you have done all you could and still feel a sense of disillusionment, you just need to keep at the word of God, living your life meditating in the word and doing what the word requires of you: keep loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and might; keep loving your neighbor just as much as you love yourself; keep pursuing after righteousness, truth, and peace; keep sharing the gospel of the kingdom to as many people as you possibly can; keep showing love and kindness to the poor, the broken hearted, the homeless, the hungry, and strangers; keep going to the gathering of saints; keep confessing your sins and shunning all forms of evil, keep speaking words that edify. Just keep on fighting the good fight of faith; keep offering your sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving; keep talking the talk and walking the walk; keep going the extra mile and giving your very best in everything you do. For, it will not be long and you would have lived out your assignment without even realizing it. I believe there will be a lot of pleasant surprises awaiting a lot of people when they meet their Creator some day. As you dive into the general will of God for all his children without holding back anything or being too calculative, you are saying indirectly to the Creator, “Lord, here I am. Take me and use me as you please”. You may not be the one who dreams, or sees a vision, or receives a revelation. You may be the one who has never been prophesied to or anointed by any minister of the gospel. You may even come across as a “nobody” in the kingdom. Nevertheless, you can find true fulfillment and satisfaction by just abiding in the general will and purpose of God. As it is written: “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty” (1Corinthians 1:27).

The key of feedback

Feedback is like a mirror that enables you to judge your progress in life. It reveals whether you are producing the desired results. God is result-oriented. He has never produced failures. If all you get in life is negative feedback, then you need a reality check. It can be a clue that you are treading a path opposite to the one ordained for you by God. At a point in his life, the prodigal son looked at the feedback of his riotous living and saw disappointment, failure, regret, and danger. He then had to decide whether to continue in the same direction or to make an about-turn and head in the opposite direction. He rightly changed the course of his life by heading to the latter which was his father’s house. There, he regained his destiny in God. Feedback is important. It could be the one major factor that will change the course of your life for the better. Jesus cursed a fig tree to death because he was disappointed that there was no fruit on it at the time that he expected to find some fruit. If you are not bearing any good fruits in life, it is a feedback that should engender a total rethink of your life. If you tread God’s pre-ordained path for your life, your very conscience and soul will be greeted with satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment. If you are always greeted with of disillusionment, dissatisfaction, and discontent, it is a sure feedback that you are operating outside the specific will of God for your life. A high sense of fulfillment in what you do is a feedback confirming that you are treading the path of destiny. Show me a man who is never content with his life and I will be pointing you to a man who is walking outside the Father’s will. If you want to know the specific will of God for your life, check the feedback. God’s chartered path for your life will ultimately produce the desired feedback.

When applying the key of feedback, you must also bear in mind that an initially negative feedback does not necessarily mean that you are outside the will of God. Walking in the will of God has its own dynamics of challenges. You are bound to face challenges. It is therefore important to interpret your feedbacks with wisdom. You must judge correctly when to make an about-turn and when to keep going, when to say no and when to say yes, when to say enough is enough and when to soldier on. Not all feedbacks are a true reflection of the truth. For you to be doubly sure about your feedbacks, you will have to ascertain whether they are also re-affirming what is already obvious.
