Tips on tilling garden.

Using no till farming techniques has proven to be beneficial and some have wanted to apply these methods to your backyard organic garden. Be warned, no till does not mean no work as outlined by www.eartheasy.com.

A no till garden must be created by digging the soil at least 8” then adding mulch, compost or grass clippings. To maintain the no till garden mulch must be added constantly. You also need to be careful of soil compaction. If you have clay content in your soil it will require a large amount of mulch and you must avoid walking in the garden. Eartheasy recommends creating stone edging to use as a walking path for any garden more than 4’ wide. No till methods may dictate the size of the garden you maintain.

Before taking on no till do your homework. Check out sites like www.eartheasy.com to know the right way to create and maintain a no till garden.
