Earning Rupees, Spending Dollars
" The river that flows the opposite way"
Most of the first generation Indians in the USA earn dollar, save a few hundred thousand dollars if they can, and then try to buy properties in India (subject to regulations). {The trend is so for th pst 30-40 years). If I teach in any of the better known institutes, my better students will go abroad, earn dollars, and I shall have very little say on any matters relating to money ( Americans don't play cricket, so CIA cannot pay me even one penny --- the attitude is 'bina yuddhey nahi debo suchagra medini'). At best some of the better known thinktanks will call me 'jealous' and 'unprofessional'.
Imagine the reverse scenario. I earn Rupee and support research in Dollar. Is that possible? Then the thinktanks would say that I am too poor to take such initiatives. Only the Bengali Pancharatna and the Karnataka navaratna can make such a move!
What's the difference?
