I found in Kroger this morning that they have reduced the calories in orange juice by 50 per cent. This should not come as a shock, but unless a person is diabetic, the orange juice is not the problem.
I myself am fully aware of why I am gaining weight. It's not those sneaky little orange juice calories; I don't even like juice! It's the chocolate covered granola bars. Or maybe that low-fat popcorn whose flavor picks up with a little melted butter and parmesan cheese.
The problem isn't even spaghetti carbs. It's all those breadsticks we had to help the salad go down. Or the healthy breakfast shake with an added scoop of Bluebell ice cream. Come on, people! If we got back to drinking orange juice with our scrambled egg and one slice of toast at breakfast, we could probably skip the jelly donut and snickers snack at work. Eating normally and exercising abundantly is the only formula for losing weight.
How do you like the ad for Cortislim? The one where the young, skinny girl says, "Are you over 40 and overweight? Is there FAT accumulating on your belly, hips, and thighs?" I yell "shut up!" at the TV every time it comes on. That's another issue--turning OFF the TV and getting up and doing some gardening is a good way to burn some calories.
I read yesterday how milk actually helps people lose weight. Four servings of dairy a day supposedly causes fat to burn. I told my 18 year old son about it. We were going to walk at the park, and I was bravely riding there in my jeep. One of his friends beeped. Sam laughed. "They're wondering who the chick is with me," he said.
"The fat chick?" I asked.
"No," he diplomatically replied, "The chick who drinks 4 glasses of milk a day." Of course, I rushed right out this morning and bought milk, cottage cheese, and low-fat yogurt.
It's time to get up and move now. All this thinking has made me hungry. I think I'll go eat an apple...hmmm, maybe with a little peanut butter on it.
