Day-by-day devotional

"Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow. "

(James1:17)

I see wonderful grace gifts on every hand, marvelous reminders that God is real.  It's funny how the concepts that seemed impossible to me at age 15 are now my foundation.  The reality that God is alive and active and cares about me personally--indeed, about every person living--is no longer a curiosity but a fact.

The faith journey begins when a soul cries out to God.  Even a doubting but honest prayer suffices: "If You are there, show me!  I need you." 

God never fails us.  He has never lied to me or left me without a hope. There are times when God keeps me in the dark, but even then, I can be assured that His presence and good will are shaping the reality.  And even though God feels so personal to me, this journey belongs to others, also.This relationship with God is not just for a privileged few. 

In the book of John, the apostle asserts,

"As many as received Jesus, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in HIs name..." 

(John 1:12)
