A truly diverting book--highly recommend.

     If you prefer comedy, romance, and dialogue with your Regency romance, this is a must-read.  I love Georgette Heyer, and this is one of the best.  Several couples are painted with charm and truth--they seem like people I know.    No guilt, either--no shocking scenes, although there is plenty of passion.  I do buy into the concept, often explored by this author, that sometimes, only a crisis reveals a person's true love.  Also, that some nice people simple aren't made to marry, no matter how cute they look together.      I must wonder whether this book inspired Mary Balogh with Slightly Scandalous.  The humor is similar.  In fact, Mary Balogh is one of the few modern authors that seems, to me, to compare in creating layered characters who grab our hearts as does Heyer.      At any rate--I like Bath Tangle much better than Sprig Muslin or Lady of Quality, which I read this last week and didn't bother to review.  They were...nice.  No more.
