I've picked up another stack of books. Jaquie D'Alessandro, Georgette Heyer, and Francine Rivers....

So far, The Foundling is one of the most fun Heyer stories yet. Her characters always grow and develop, discovering inner resources previously unknown. A young Duke, sick to death of being hemmed about with relatives and loyal servants, proposes to his chosen bride.  He then embarks on a crazy adventure. 
 

Love and the Single Heiress, by D'Alessandro has not impressed me much.  The story line is good.  However, it's not a remarkable thing when two good looking people get the hots and fall for each other.  Duh! 

Although I love Francine Rivers, I have delayed reading The Last Shofar Blew.  The theme centers around the stress and motivations of the ministry--an all-too familiar refrain for me.  At this point, perhaps I can read it without too much inner anguish.  We'll see.  My husband moved from being the senior pastor to working as support staff in a church.  The pressure, both within and social, is crushing at times..  So I'll be anxious to see how Rivers handles the trials and tribulations of the minister's wife.
