Time is a precious commodity. Relationships are found treasure. So very many habits should be discarded like that favorite pair of jeans that no longer fits and wouldn't flatter your figure if they did.
I'm resolved not to waste anymore of the time left in my hourglass.
Life is too short for diet chocolate. I want the real thing!
Life is too short to let my hair get gray.
It's too short to quarrel or nag or squabble about the non-essentials. Crucial stuff, and I'll make a fuss. I'll will not quibble about where to eat or what to watch on TV.
I refuse to read sad books where the hero/heroine dies/leaves/is murdered near the end. Same with movies where the guy gets hung--Todd knows what I'm saying! I don't care which critics liked it.
I don't much care for sad songs. Weave me a fantasy. Write me moonlight and magic. Dance with me in the livingroom, because yesterday I could barely walk, and today I feel alive.
I refuse to feel guilt for things I can't help. God has forgiven me. I forgive myself.
I'm not accumulating one more thing. We'll send that money to the mission fields.
There are too many disappointments and frustrations in life. By necessity, one must grieve at times. It's an inevitable part of the human condition. But when I have a choice, I'll laugh and marvel. I'll go to Belize or Colorado or somewhere you can see God's fingerprints, fresh and clear as the sky.
I don't want to muddle around or grope in the darkness. As much as possible, I'll enjoy this day and this life. True, parts of life are drudgery. But the parts God designed--family, worship, nature, friends--are grand. They're a glimpse of heaven. If the kingdom of God is among us, it is right and appropriate to rejoice and give praise.
