You asked about my library.
Obviously, I don't read latin or German. I liked the sheen of the leather binding. When I ordered them from e-bay, I first considered how they looked.
At another point, I thought it would be good to have some classics--Shakespeare, Dickens, Wordsworth, etc. Since money is no object, I opted for signed contemporary authors as well as antique.
Your books, on the other hand, should be shoved into a dark corner of a closed cupboard. You read the covers off of them! And the ones with the shocking covers, you bind with contact paper. Tacky, my dear. However, I've read your favorites and agree--you must keep them. And that contact paper trick makes them perfect for reading in a swirling jacuzzi.
So, in short, you should have public shelves and private shelves. Along with emergency chocolate and Chanel #5.
