On my last trip, I read all three of Richard Phillips' Rho Agenda Books.  They were interesting, fast-paced, and fairly technical.  The character development wasn't deep, but sucked me in enough to keep racing through to get to the next crises resolution. I'd highly recommend the series if you are a fan of sci-fi.  

I'm always rereading the J. D. Robb books.  The most recent two were not that gripping to me.  Calculated in Death and Delusion in Death-- not quite what I have come to expect from the author.  The bad guys were only mildly sinister and annoying.  Let me summarize both books anyway.

Calculated in Death centers around corporate misdeeds and subsequent murders.  As always, J D Robb on a bad day is still fine reading.  I couldn't guess the real murderers, and got to see the relationships developing.  Marlo and the actors from Celebrity in Death make  brief appearances. One of the most tender aspects of the In Death books is Roarke's care when Eve gets hurt in the line of duty.  

The humor and dialogue always sparkle.  The mother-daughter tone of Eve's relationship with Dr. Mira shines.  Eve's dream this time feature flying babies who explode into colorful toys rather than some of the darker dreams of her frightening childhood.  At last, it seems, she's healing from the trauma.

  The motivation for murder seemed weak in both cases.  In real-life murders in the news, this is often the case.  Thus, the term "senseless tragedy."  That applies here. However, the characters always move and amuse, and it's never a waste of time to see what Roarke and Eve are solving. 

In the romance department, I'm about to read Sarah: A Mission of Love by Gay Lewis. This appears to be a fun supernatural about a clumsy but well-intentioned angel.  I'll let you know how it goes.
