Grandma's Restaurant
In Albany, New York, there are various eateries. We had journeyed from Hartford, Connecticut to New York. After driving 5 hours to traverse 150 miles, we were ready for something besides fast food. The traffic was ridiculous, the mountainous roads twisty though picturesque, and we had to make numerous stops. Senior adults require as many car breaks as toddlers. We had munched on popcorn and trail mix and drank too many sodas. Now, we wanted something simple, reasonably priced, and close to the hotel.
With trepidation, we pulled up at this quaint looking building. Indeed, it looked like someone's little house. The waitstaff was friendly and cheerful. We ordered meatloaf, Greek salad, and eggplant fries. It was great! The eggplant came with Italian sauce for dipping and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. The meatloaf plate came with two sides and a salad.
There was a special I so much wanted to try: halibut stuffed with crab. However, I had snacked so much that I didn't want all the trimmings, so I'll save that for another time.
This morning, we had breakfast there. They actually have gluten-free bead, which is a wonderful boon to me. We ordered omelettes, complete with home-made hash browns and the works. Enverything was good home-style cooking. Not too pricey.
I had my eye on these delectable homemade pies. You should see them. Golden fruit pies, cream pies stacked high, all under a case like jewels. . We didn't try them either last night or this morning, but we will definitely go back for some fluffy coconut cream pie.
