The truth was a group of  Natives were attack while they slept. A group of mercenaries invaded their village, had them to come out of their houses and were blugoned to death. Then the houses were set afire and the women and children were burned to death. The next day, after things quieted down, the Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony declared day of thanks for the successful raid and killing of  the people. Other Natives joined in in the regular attacks the English made on area tries and after each one, they celebrated. This kind of sneek attack became a regular occurrance. There did not seem to be a reason for the attack.

     The Pilgrims were the first to arrived here. They were actully refugees from England. As with most invaders, they did not fit in the home land and was forced to leave. They were outcast.The pilgrims were a group who broke away from the Puritans whose objective was to purify the church. They were religious zealots.

     The Natives  who met the invaders were at war with several of their neighbors and slavers who raided the costal villages.  They belonged to a confederacy made up of several tribes. They lived in villages farmed and lived off the land by hunting and fishing. These tribes celebrated a bountiful harvest and usually feasted several days.

     For 30,000 years, man has given thanks in one form or another so to say when the first thanksgiving took plce, the best we can do is say many many years ago. Death, oppression and victimization has always been apart of giving thanks to some God.

     Thanksgiving celebrations begin long before the natives and the pilgrims sat down in the woods to eat. This mythical coming together makes for good propagands but that was all it was, a story to make white people feel good about the invasion of another man's land and having it ok'd by God.
