I offer some insights into why I must love my characters so that the reader will

I have a special place in my heart for all my characters. After all, I give birth to them from my imagination and nurture them as they grow. I have to fall in love, at least a little, with all of my heroes because if I don’t, how can I convince the reader that they are both attractive and loveable? So I love them all but one of my favorites is my truck driving, Shakespeare quoting vampire Will Brennan.

In Will, I combine a lot of the elements that make a man – the real flesh and blood variety – appealing to me. He’s Irish, he’s dark haired with brilliant blue eyes, and he exudes a sensual grace. He is also both strong and yet he can be tender with Cara. These are all things that I like in a significant other. He’s also more than two hundred years old and happens to be a vampire.

Maybe it is because I have such a fondness for Will Brennan, matched by my attachment to his lady Cara Riley, that the story begun in Love Tattoo will continue. In Love Scars, due out in June from Evernight Publishing, their happily ever after ending is threatened by someone from Will’s past. As the blurb says, who survives and who doesn’t ends up in Cara’s hands. Another volume in their story, Love Knots, is in the final stages and I hope to submit it in the near future.

I like my other heroes too. There’s the mathematics teacher, Darien Wolfe, who became what is against his will in Wolfe’s Lady, former Navy SEAL Ben Hatfield who will do whatever he must to keep his Katy safe in my upcoming July release from Champagne Books, Reid Ramsey in my first Rebel Ink release, Love Never Fails, with his love of 1970s cars and music, and more including the hero in my work-in-progress, Guy Richter, a World War I flying ace. If I didn’t love my men, readers wouldn’t either. Several of the reviews mention their attraction and affection for my fictional Will Brennan and when I read comments like that, I know I’ve succeeded.
